LegalVision has announced it has acquired the subscription legal services arm of another legal tech business, Cooee. Cooee’s employment subscription service is an end-to-end workplace relations solution for employers. Like LegalVision’s commercial law services, the Cooee service is delivered through an online model and supported by the use of technology. The deal is motivated by LegalVision’s effort to offer greater cost-certainty, value and efficiency to the needs of its growing client base.
LegalVision aims to leverage its existing expertise as a legal services innovator to develop a market-changing model for subscription-based legal services. With the acquisition, the firm has launched a new employment relations advisory service to offer on-demand employment law services to startups, SMEs and corporate clients. The subscription service provides legal advice and documents to support employers at a fraction of the cost of traditional legal providers.
“There is a clear and tested market for employment law subscription services”, said Lachlan McKnight, CEO of LegalVision. “This acquisition offers the perfect opportunity for us to show how a law firm can deliver quality legal services on a subscription model. We have already started planning how to roll out the model to cover other key areas of corporate and commercial law”.
The launch of its employment law subscription service supports LegalVision’s growth plans and company mission to transform the delivery of legal services. The deal will be LegalVision’s second strategic acquisition in just four years of operation, after it bought the consultant lawyer marketplace, CapacityHQ, in 2015.
